In an era where many farmers are thinking about leaving the industry, and scares such as Foot-And-Mouth (FMD) and blue tongue make it increasingly difficult to run a successful livestock business, we have been breeding Hampshire Down and Ryeland sheep for over a decade.
It started as a hobby, after we bought a paddock for our daughter's pony and soon realised we had too much grazing land. This prompted us to buy some beef cattle, however FMD made us change course and move in to the breeding of pedigree sheep.
We now breed the following pedigrees:

We use both the Signet Sire Reference System (SRS) and Computer Tomography to help us select our stock for breeding and the results have been outstanding; we have won many awards in competitions across the region, including:
The Great Yorkshire Show
The Wensleydale Show
3 Counties Show
Royal Highland Show
Royal Show Warwickshire
Royal Welsh Show Builth Wells |

Our success in the shows has brought us customers from as far away as continental Europe and even Japan, where the wool produced by our flocks is used by a specialist futon manufacturer as the stuffing for the mattresses!

AccreditationS
Both of our flocks are MV accredited and licensed - please click the SAC logo (below) for more information about this important aspect of sheep breeding.
MV Accreditation is recognised across Europe as a quality standard for export purposes, meaning that exports of our sheep is more straightforward - click here to contact us for more information about this.
Additionally, both flocks are highly resistant to scrapie, are monitored for this condition and are registered as part of the National Scrapie Plan, which involves regular blood tests to ensure the flocks are free of this condition. Please click on the DEFRA logo below for more information.
